BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Flock together
This is for our challenge this week CREATE A SCENE Challenge 45
I was a bit stumped to start with, then an idea suddenly emerged when I thought about Anne saying about all the snow the UK had been getting. I am working on a new cd and this beautiful water colour comes from the new cd, I have no bird stamps so I have drawn/traced them on, I did not want to draw straight onto the image just incase, so I have used acetate and layered it over the top
I hope you like it

TEXTURE IN BLACK & WHITE CANVAS

One of my favourite colour combinations

This is something different for me I spotted this in one of our craft magazines and fell in love with it
You need: 1 Artists Canvas Board
Tissue/crinkle type paper
Lamp Template needs to be very, very thick card, as these are thin MDF which gives them the depth
Gems

Cover half of the board with your chosen paper and let it dry, paint your lamps with white paint when dry cover half of the lamps with the same paper. When dry free draw or stamp some flowers onto each vase, add a corner decoration, and some gems to give it that extra sparkle, Voila one finished master piece
I am entering this in Crafty Ann's challenge this week which is Texture, hope this counts

Something a bit different

I needed a picture for my bathroom and whilst out saw this beautiful tile in the sale bin it was just €2 and I had to have it.
My husband hollowed the middle out of a piece of board and made a ledge to fix it onto
I painted the frame with brown paint and let it dry, I then used a darker brown glaze and using a piece of scrunched up newspaper dabbed it over the lighter brown paint
I am more than pleased with it and it did not cost a fortune
Close up of finished frame paint tecnique

Cherries,Cherries & more Cherries

This year we have a bumper crop of cherries, we are lucky too because they are the delicious Black Morello Cherry and they are coming out my ears for want of a better term
I have bottled them, froze them, ate them, made Jam and Compote and then I remembered
this recipe its a favourite here in France
CHERRY CLAFOUTIS

1lb cherries
2 level tbsp granulated sugar
2 tbsp red red wine or cherry kirsch
2 tbsp digestive biscuit crumbs

For the batter
2 whole eggs and 2 egg yolks
3oz sugar
1oz cornflour
9oz double creme

Preheat oven to 220/425F gas 7
Combine cherries, sugar and wine, and place in oven for 5 mins until cherries are hot, drain the cherrries and cool.

Reduce oven to 180/350F/gas4

Whisk the eggs and egg yolks until light and frothy, add the sugar and whisk until blended Add the cornflour and cream and then set aside to rest. Mix the cherries with the biscuit crumb, put into ovenproof dish and then pour the batter over. Bake for 30- 35 mins until golden brown and firm

Leave to cool and then dust with icing sugar and serve with creme fraiche flavoured with cherry juice or icecream

Tip: add the juice to good wine vinagar to make a superb cherry vinegar
